The X-Force version of Deadpool pays tribute to the presence of Wade Wilson in a mutant group consisting of several elements and that has been (in the past) the backbone of different Comic books in USA. Released in 2013 as a Website Exclusive (with ad edition size limited to 885 pieces), the statue is essentially a reworking of the Deadpool Statue by Sosa, realized by the Kucharek brothers, which got a good market success. The essential features of the sculpt are the museum, frontal position of the hero, an extremely defined musculature on the abdomen and legs and the presence of many weapons adorning the figure: the two automatic machine guns held by Wilson, the ninja swords on his back, the gun on the right side and the dagger at his left ankle. In the X-Force statue, however, the left arm is folded down, the head is rotated and the costume, although maintaining the original design with “patches” of different colors, is characterized by a successful mix of gray and matte black. The swords on the back are now supported by two large belts placed at the attachment-point of the arms and joined together by a central connector on chest, adorned (on the right side) by a very flashy buckle, depicting the typical “X” of mutants colored in black on a background metallic red. The same logo also defines the buckle of the waist belt (here with a silver contour) and the circular base of the piece, simple and in line with those of many other Bowen pieces dedicated to the X-Men. Although the attention to details seems to be lower than in the original Deadpool Statue, also the X-Force exhibits a great sculpt of the head, with well defined lines of demarcation between the patches, and the shapes of nose, ears, chin and cheekbones highlighted under the mask; moreover, the two red eyes provide an excellent chromatic contrast with the rest. Among the many details, the faintly bluish hue of the weapons is noteworthy: it enhances their metal appearance and point them out with respect to the dark tones of the suit. After the release of the splendid Faux Bronze variant of the Deadpool Statue and the dynamic Action Statue, I thought I had concluded definitely the Bowen section dedicated to this anomalous Marvel superhero. On the other hand, I could not resist to the original and magnetic appeal of this X-Force version, and any time I direct my glance on this beautiful piece, I am convinced that bringing it to collection was a successful and very good choice.
